One-on-One, Personalized Lessons: Once a baseline of skills and/or any gaps have been identified, your tutor will determine a specific skill to start with and begin differentiating lesson plans based off your child's present levels, strengths, and interests. Our tutors collect informal data each week and use this to further tailor the next lesson to each child's unique needs. Our student centered model allows students to master skills at their own pace. Our students typically demonstrate mastery of a skill within 2-4 tutoring sessions. The Strengths and Interests Questionnaire helps us design lessons unique to each child.
Progress Reports: Your child's progress will be monitored and shared on a monthly basis. Tutors collect data on mastery of specific phonic skills covered throughout each month, as well as, progress in general reading concepts such as phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension. Progress may also be reported directly to your child's teachers and/or providers with parental consent.
Resources: Research shows that children learn concepts more efficiently when they are practiced across settings. That's why we provide printable resources, specific to your child's skill level, to help reinforce skills at home.
An initial assessment is conducted in order to determine a student's present levels. This helps us determine a starting point and identify any gaps in achievement. The following assessments are conducted based on age and skill level.
